14 Days: Hidden Gems of Southern Laos & Cambodia
From the Bolaven Plateau and Mekong Islands to the Temples of Angkor
Two countries, one mighty river and a journey through some of the lesser-explored corners of Laos and Cambodia.
Your 14-day adventure begins in Pakse, gateway to the beautiful landscapes of southern Laos. Throughout the journey, experienced English-speaking local guides bring each destination to life, introducing you to the people, traditions and stories that make this region so special.
Head into the Bolaven Plateau by jeep, leaving the main roads behind to discover waterfalls, coffee plantations and remote villages. Spend the night on a working coffee plantation, learn how some of Laos' finest coffee is grown and meet ethnic communities whose traditions remain an important part of life in the highlands.
From the mountains, continue towards the mighty Mekong River and the legendary 4,000 Islands.
Explore Don Khone by bicycle, follow quiet paths between villages and cross the Mekong on tiny local ferries. Take to the water by kayak and keep watch for the rare Irrawaddy dolphins while experiencing the river from an entirely different perspective. Then cross the border into Cambodia, where the adventure continues. Travel through rural landscapes, receive a traditional blessing from a Buddhist monk and spend time at Kulen Elephant Forest, walking through the forest and observing elephants in their natural surroundings.
Finally, arrive in Siem Reap, where one of Southeast Asia's greatest treasures awaits. Explore the temples of Angkor and stand before the magnificent towers of Angkor Wat — an unforgettable finale to a journey that began among the coffee plantations and waterfalls of southern Laos.
Fourteen days of jeeps, bicycles, kayaks, elephants, local communities, the Mekong River and ancient temples.
From southern Laos to Angkor — a journey for travellers who want to go beyond the obvious and experience a side of Southeast Asia that still feels wonderfully undiscovered.
