8 Days: Discover Southern Laos
Coffee, Jeeps, Ancient Temples & the Mighty Mekong
Discover a quieter and wonderfully adventurous side of Laos on this 8-day journey through the country's beautiful south.
Begin among the cool highlands of the Bolaven Plateau, a landscape of waterfalls, forests and some of the finest coffee plantations in Southeast Asia. Learn how Lao coffee is grown and produced, meet the people behind it and spend the night on a working coffee plantation. Then it's time for adventure.
Climb into a jeep and leave the main roads behind, following rural tracks through the plateau to remote villages and communities rarely visited by travellers. Along the way, discover spectacular landscapes, local traditions and everyday life in the highlands.
Continue south to Wat Phou, the remarkable ancient Khmer temple set against the slopes of a sacred mountain. Older than Angkor, its atmospheric ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into the early history of the Khmer Empire.
From ancient temples, travel towards the legendary 4,000 Islands, where the Mekong spreads into a maze of waterways, islands and small villages. Explore by bicycle, riding along quiet paths between rice fields, traditional houses and riverside communities.
Your journey finishes among some of the Mekong's most impressive natural sights. Feel the power of the river at the beautiful Li Phi Falls and mighty Khone Phapheng Falls, where enormous volumes of water crash through the rocky landscape.
