15 Days: Jeep Meets Mekong Princess

Adventure Meets Luxury on the Mekong

Experience Vietnam and Cambodia on an extraordinary 15-day journey combining vintage jeeps, a luxury Mekong River cruise and the temples of Angkor. Created for travellers who love adventure without giving up a little luxury, this journey brings together two very different ways of exploring Southeast Asia: the freedom of travelling by vintage jeep and the elegance of cruising aboard the 5-star Mekong Princess.

Your adventure begins in Ho Chi Minh City, where you'll explore this vibrant metropolis by vintage jeep before settling into a carefully selected hotel.

Next, step aboard the Mekong Princess and leave the city behind as you cruise through the fascinating Mekong Delta. Discover riverside villages, meet local communities and watch daily life unfold along the water, while enjoying excellent cuisine and the comfort of your elegant floating home.

Cruising upstream, you cross the border into Cambodia, where the scenery and rhythm of life along the Mekong gradually begin to change.

In Phnom Penh, swap the boat for a traditional cyclo and experience the capital from street level as you weave through its colourful and energetic streets. Back on board, relax, enjoy the passing scenery or treat yourself to a well-deserved massage as the journey continues along the Mekong.

From Kampong Cham, we travel overland to Siem Reap, where you stay at the beautiful Jaya House River Park.

Then it's time for one of Cambodia's unforgettable moments: sunrise at Angkor Wat. Watch the first light appear behind its iconic towers before setting out to explore Angkor and the surrounding countryside. And naturally, the vintage jeeps return. Leave the main roads behind and travel through rural villages, rice fields and palm-lined landscapes, discovering a side of Siem Reap few visitors experience. Walk through the forest alongside elephants and spend an evening enjoying the energy and creativity of Phare, The Cambodian Circus.

From vintage jeeps to a luxury river cruise, from the Mekong Delta to Angkor Wat — 15 days filled with adventure, comfort and unforgettable experiences.

Kulen Elephant forest, magical experience.

In the foothills of beautiful Kulen Mountain lies the Bos Thom Community Forest, 1100 acres of pristine, protected forest inhabited by the 14 elephants of Angkor. For 22 years, these elephants were used as tourist attractions, giving rides to visitors in the temples of the world heritage site. Today, thankfully, they roam free in their natural habitat and are a living testimony of a changing world. The name of it: Kulen Elephant Forest.

The journey to the Kulen Elephant Forest is almost as spectacular as seeing the majestic elephants themselves. Travelling in one of our restored vintage jeeps makes this trip more adventurous, allowing you to travel on small dirt roads through the forest, giving you a truly unique view of nature at its best.

In the morning, you will have a magical experience of helping feed the elephants their breakfast, and watch them get ready for their day before heading into the forest together. Experiencing the elephants’ mornings is a fantastic way to gain a better understanding of how to care for these majestic creatures. At noon, you will retire to base camp and enjoy a delicious traditional meal at the same time as our large residents, before bidding them adieu and heading out for your afternoon activity.

Not too far from the Elephant Kulen Forest there is a small pagoda at the foot of a hill. You will take the stairs uphill and once at the pagoda you will be able to experience a truly beautiful view over the surrounding countryside. It is also possible to cool yourself down by taking a dip in the “pool” of the pagoda.

On the way back you will get back into your trusted vintage jeep and explore the country roads and small villages as you wind your way through beautiful vistas back to Siem Reap.

The third experience for today is quite lordly. Prepare your meal together with a Cambodian family. It is not a cooking class but together with your hosts you can prepare 3 different dishes together. The rest of the afternoon is for leisure. You can do some shopping at the many markets or relax at the beautiful pool of your hotel.
